The adidas Superstar has seen it all in its 50 years on the scene. Once a hardwood high-performer, the sneaker made its transition to a bonafide streetwear staple with ease — and it was helped along by adidas’ bravery to try new things. Like Nike’s Air Force 1, the Superstar is given free creative reign, having been tweaked, teased, transformed and retooled in every way imaginable. Now the humble Shelltoe appears in one of it’s most audacious offerings yet, sporting a Rainbow-Irridescent finish that’s as bold as it is beautiful.
Confidence comes standard with these colorful creps — after all, you’d have to have some guile to pull them off. The plasticized upper is finished off in a colorful concoction that changes colors through light. Tongues, vamps, heel and eyelet overlays all arrive in the shimmering finish, while classic white shell toes and sole units juxtapose what’s going on above. Much needed contrast is ushered in by-way-of black laces, liners, and branding hits, and the pair is complete with special-edition 50th Anniversary insoles.
Pairs of these Rainbow Iridescent adidas Superstars have already landed at select overseas stockists, so we can expect a Stateside release to follow shortly. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on the release over on our official Twitter account — but until then, enjoy a detailed look at the pair in question below.
