adidas has gotten a little creative with the Superstar for it’s 50th anniversary, with big-name collaborators Sean Wotherspoon, Pharrell Williams, and Jonah Hill all pushing the silhouette to new limits. Though their mainline releases have been much less experimental, there has still been some fun, creative takes on the 50-year-old icon — including this adidas Superstar “Sharpie” that arrives with some DIY-inspired flair.
In very Joshua Vides-fashion, adidas has outlined the pair’s main panels — and even the midsole stitchwork — with jet black ink, as if someone at the factory had simply taken a felt-tip pen to the pair. It’s set off against a classic white leather build with royal and red overlays and accentuations throughout. Completing the design is a hand-stylized “SUPERSTAR” motif at the midfoot to cap off the thematic.
