The adidas Ultra BOOST Uncaged Returns in Two Elegant Options

When the Ultra BOOST first hit the scene in 2015/16, “Uncaging” was the cool thing to do. Instagram was filled with how-to videos and their results, and to be honest, some pairs honestly looked a million times better without its standard-issue overlay. Of course, by the time the brand channeled this into their own releases, it was no longer “it” making it all the more cheesy. But as all trends are cyclical, it was now only a matter of time before the first social media DIY craze for footwear returned — this time in less lousy fashion.

Over the years, adidas have learned from their first attempts at de-caging, with these two Ultra BOOSTS case and point. Both exuding elegances, the men’s black 1.0 and women’s “Halo Ivory” 5.0 each arrive in a simple and understated fashion. The former sees nothing but black throughout its entire build, save a quick flash of metallic gold branding in the rear, and forefoot weaves of grey in that perfectly balanced 1.0 pattern. The ladies’ release opts for a color split, with clean whites underfoot, and tonal beiges above.
