While the epic 26-piece adidas A-ZX collection has mostly focused on brand-name partnerships for its releases, there has been, on the odd occasion, some left-field inspiration. The inside-out X-Ray 6000 and the ZX 8000 “Vieux Lyon” are just two of them, and even the non-A-ZX drops are pulling in some different flavors. The next to appear takes that phrase quite literally, with the adidas ZX 8000 “Frozen Lemonade” adding a little zest into the epic alphabetized catalog.
Taking cues from Nike’s famous Powerall Air Max 1, this sweet option arrives inspired by the unofficial beverage of the Summer. Predominately pastel yellow uppers are met vibrant lemons swatches and a trio of greens throughout, though overall it’s a light, bright build. Underfoot you’ll find a sail midsole — again avoiding white to arrive in-line with lemon seed and pith, while icy outsoles serve a nod to the chilling frozen blocks often accompanying the beverage. That’s taken to another level on the ice cub graphic insoles — and if you pull them out, you’ll even find a homemade lemonade recipe printed underneath. Talk about detail!
