Through adidas’ alphabetized A-ZX collection, there’s always a handful of letters that would be tricky. X would undoubtedly cause the biggest headache, but the German footwear giants have delivered something very special, and arguably the best of the pack thus far, too. The adidas ZX 6000 “X-Ray Inside Out” — or as they’ve called it, the 0006 XZ —literally flips the entire sneaker from front to back, inside and out, where possible.
Uppers and tongues show an exposed foam fabrication, necessarily held tight at the overlays through the use of translucent TPU — though mid panels and toes remain exposed. The latter sports a print that mimics an X-Ray to the outsole beneath — as do the insoles — while it’s toe box overlays sow an undercarriage-like stitch finish that plays on the overlay thematic. Under the translucent rear clip, you’ll find a vintage perforated foam panel, again seen from the reverse side, with the pair’s last inversion taking place on the tongue tag. Elsewhere, the midsole unit arrives in a simple sail with clips and inserts utilizing translucent finishes, while a smokey-clear rubber outsole ostensibly reflects an X-Ray film.
