The Three Stripes continues to double-down on the world of golf, updating some of its most iconic silhouettes for the green. Following the development of Stan Smiths with BOA® lacing, adidas has returned its focus to the ZX 8000 Golf shoe.
Previously launched in the silhouette's iconic 'Clear Aqua/Shock Yellow/Light Aqua' color scheme, the latest golf-ready update to the adidas ZX 8000 sees an understated 'Core Black/Aura Black/Silver Metallic' trio. Weather-resistant GORE-TEXT material lays the foundation for the performance product, working in-tandem with tumbled leather overlays and plastic panels for a build that's ready to go the distance. A lighter, almost purple 'Aura Black' lands across profile 3-Stripes, Achilles' heel accents, and the old school midsole underfoot, contrasting the pitch-dark outfit that takes over most of the ZX 8000 Golf. 'Silver Metallic' hits enter the mix at the toe, sidewalls, and tongue label.
adidas debuted the ZX 8000 in 1989 as one of its premier performance-running sneakers. Its high-quality build delivered a reliable ride in a breathable, lightweight, and long-lasting package. Support clips around the heel helped keep the foot in place while the rugged outsole performed on and off-road. A Torsion system ensured athletes had support in the mid-foot, minimizing the risk of rolling their foot. As part of the silhouette's modern update, the Three Stripes has included responsive BOOST cushioning in the spike-less golf shoe.
An official adidas.com release date hasn't been disclosed by the brand as of yet, but that's likely to change as the Masters Tournament commences on April 10. Expect the GORE-TEX and BOOST-donning ZX 8000 Golf shoe to retail for upwards of $150.
