Chinese designer Caroline Hu has been relatively quiet on the collaborative front since November 2024, when she partnered with the Three Stripes to launch a second Originals collection. As spring inches closer, the inaugural winner of the BoF China Prize has prepped another batch of silk-covered adidas Samba styles for today's it girl.
While not as decorated as previous work on the SL 72 and Superstar, Hu's latest trio of the adidas Originals staple enjoys a luxurious and experimental lace and silk makeover. Inspired by her apparel collections, each take on the low-top silhouette features a handmade silk smock that creates a 'soft shell' of sorts on the old school football shoe. In the designer's own words, "Stacking and repetition of lace symbolizes the subtle connections and overlap between individuals."
Last year's adidas Originals by Caroline Hu capsule brought pink, white, and black color schemes to the elevated Sambas. Her latest interpretations apply 'Silver Metallic,' 'Power Red,' and 'Dark Blue' ensembles to the Women's offerings. All three styles don classic 'Gum' bottoms, while 3-Stripes logos on the profiles opt for either matte or glossy finishes. The designer's name is stamped on the tongue label and insole, with Reverie no longer appearing on the collaborative pairs.
Enjoy official photos of the trio by Caroline Hu below. An official adidas CONFIRMED app launch hasn't been disclosed by either party involved, but that's sure to change by June. Each special Samba should retail for $160.
