adidas is proudly on the pursuit of performance innovation across a vast array of sports. At this year's Berlin Marathon, the Top 3 runners on both the Men's and Women's sides proved just how advanced the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 is, for example. Other concepts—including CLIMACOOL+ Slides—haven't been proven in the real world just yet, but they're rooted in the same mission to improve the lives of athletes.

The athlete recovery-focused idea was unveiled during the brand's Home of Innovation summit at its World Headquarters in Germany on Sept. 25—just two days before the Berlin race. CLIMACOOL+ Slides, like the adidas HYPERBOOST 360, takes existing technology and reimagines it with advanced manufacturing processes to push the boundaries of what was previously thought possible. Furthermore, the slides-proposal lives within the world of adidas CLIMACOOL, whereas the clog concept forgoes any use of CLIMACOOL tech in favor of simply manipulating HyperBOOST Pro foam to create a comfortable and breathable clog.

Designers, analysts, and creatives at the adidas APEX Center have been tinkering with Rapid Liquid Printing to create new recovery-oriented products. APEX, which stands for Athlete Product Excellence, has found a promising idea in the CLIMACOOL+ Slides due to their relative ease of manufacturing and instant benefit to athletes: the concept immediately cools the feet pre-or-post-activity.

The brand's current CLIMACOOL+ Slides concept begins in a gel bath of cooling gel that is programmed via machine in a similar way that 3D-printed product is made. A precise needle prints a silicone skin—effectively the footwear silhouette—over the course of seven hours. After a five-hour curing process, the slides are filled with HyperBOOST Pro foam & placed in a cooler that cools each individual cooling chamber found on the product—11 across the footbed and four larger chambers on the forefoot strap.

These chambers instantly provide a cold sensation throughout the foot, which is meant to alleviate any pain-point or simply wake up the foot and mind. As of September 2026, CLIMACOOL+ Slides deliver up to 30 minutes of cooling sensation, but the APEX team is working on extending this benefit with future iterations.

The recovery slide concept features the same HyperBOOST PRO foam introduced on the HyperBOOST EDGE running shoe, creating a responsive ride. Bouncy foam combined with an innovative cooling solution makes for a boundary-pushing footwear style that's sure to help with athlete performance.

An official adidas.com release date for a retail-version of the CLIMACOOL+ Slides has not been alluded to by the brand, but that may change by the start of the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
