DFB x adidas Ultra BOOST DNA Channels the German Football Team’s Second Kit
Founded in Germany in 1949, adidas has always been proud of its roots, with collaborations as recent as END’s “German Engineering” capsule showcasing just how ingrained the nation is within the Three Stripes’ minds. Naturally, the brand is captivated by its highly successful national football team, and as the German Football Association’s (DFB) official outfitter — and with great national pride — you can expect to see the brand pay tribute to the team quite frequently. Here they do so on the adidas Ultra BOOST DNA in a colorway made to match the black on black of the nation’s 2021-22 second kit.
Everything from the tonal branding to the all-black base is made to mimic the Nationalelf’s new duds. More nods at the sports organization are found on the heel loop, where four stars are printed to represent their World Championship wins in 1954, 1974, 1990, and 2014. And while the new kits show some fairly obvious national flag arm banding, these don’t — but they are present. Insoles reflect the nation’s tricolors of black, red, and gold to complete the design.
