Launched in 2021, the NMD S1 from adidas Originals quickly became a key player in numerous collaborations, working alongside Philllllthy, Pharrell, and Rimowa, as well as forming part of collections with globally recognized franchises in Star Wars and Xbox. As we move into 2023, the brand is joining forces with smaller imprint Hamcus, a Chinese label, to put its unique spin on this iconic silhouette.
Established in 2013, Hamcus is a brand steeped in military-inspired aesthetics and a fondness for sci-fi films, industrial design, and technology. They're renowned for their distinctive dystopian styles.
At its core, the pair sports a simple scheme, with woven uppers, sock collars, laces, and semi-translucent sole casings, all arriving in tonal taupe hues. The titular hue continues on the glazed Three Stripe overlays, those resting atop mid-panel mesh of mid-grey. The midsole inserts also arrive in grey shades, with pops of coppery-orange fitting out the color and insole trim to complete the design Furthermore, this special edition will come housed in exclusive packaging.
