Like On Shoes But Wish They Were adidas? Check Out HyperBOOST Lite
The adidas Running Team has been on a roll over the last few years. Record-breaking innovative designs like the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 and stylish, performance-driven offerings like the Evo SL have helped the brand prove itself across a variety of athletic levels and markets. The company's HyperBOOST EDGE proposal also ushered in a promising addition to the legacy of BOOST footwear popularized during the 2010s, but its adoption has been slower than its predecessors. HyperBOOST Lite is looking to change that.
Introduced to the Asian market (and seemingly developed with insight from the adidas China Team), HyperBOOST Lite has the potential of being the commercial hit that the Three Stripes has been looking for within its HyperBOOST line. Visually, the silhouette isn't too dissimilar from other modern running shoes to feature HyperBOOST PRO foam, but there's one design element that sets the Lite-iteration apart from others: cutouts in the midsole.
Even if you aren't savvy in running shoes, the hollowed-out cushioning at the heel will surely remind you of the handfuls of On shoes that've taken over city streets across the globe. adidas, like legacy brands Nike and PUMA, have experimented with different midsole setups throughout their histories, but the appearance of HyperBOOST Lite following the rise in popularity of On's CloudTec® technology can't be coincidence.
According to an adidas Hong Kong product page, HyperBOOST Lite is "the future of running." Built with a premium textile upper, the model's signature detail is the dual-density BOOST midsole (HyperBOOST and BOOST+). The boldly-branded, sculpted structure "provides adaptive support and unmatched compression, crafting a midsole experience like no other," reads the running shoes' official description.

The sneaker's On-reminiscent midsole holes might be the adidas HyperBOOST Lite's most obvious selling point, but the silhouette seems more than capable of performing. As suggested by the $150 Nike Swooshfly marathon racer, consumers in Greater China are all about visible technology that performs. So, adidas had to ensure its boundary-pushing shoe delivers.
As of writing, the Three Stripes hasn't confirmed a global launch of the HyperBOOST Lite. The design's potential to go viral on social media and proven performance could change that, however.
