It’s Easy to be Green with the Kermit the Frog x adidas Stan Smith

The iconic adidas Stan Smithsilhouette has been used as a blank canvas on a plethora of designs, concepts, and collaborations and at times drawing huge hype and a loyal fanbase over its four-decade-long catalog. Returning to the silhouette from his 2006 collaboration is the cornerstone of the Muppets franchise, Kermit the Frog, this time for a very Earth-friendly collaboration.

Although this timeless classic was originally a Tennis shoe from the ’70s, for decades now the time-honored shoe has been repurposed for street fashion and is now a street culture symbol. Although its tradition lives on, times are changing. Sustainable footwear has become a focus of both adidas and the greater sneaker community, which is often at times challenging. As Kermit says: “It not easy being green.” — but with adidas’ Primegreen systems in play on this Kermit the Frog x adidas Stan Smith for once, it is easy to be green.

Aside from the environmental benefits, the playful pair pays homage to a childhood icon. Although simple in its construction the execution of this shoe is perfect, smooth upper and crisp white rubber sole unit to provide the perfect foundation for the remaining finer details. Located on the rear medial in lime green is an outlined portrait of the world-famous frog, with his name is also printed in bold in between the perforated Three Stripe punctures. Completing the design is Stan Smith detail at the tongue completed in lime, and rear Stan Smith wording replaced by the aforementioned catchphrase — “It’s not easy being green”
