The legacy of Kobe Bryant continues to influence the world of basketball, not only through his impact on the game but also through his iconic sneaker line.
In a showcase held in Salt Lake City in February, adidas Basketball unveiled its lineup for the year, paying homage to the brand's past, present, and future. Among the silhouettes celebrated were classics such as the T-MAC 3, Rivalry Low, and the revered Crazy 8.
Last seen in its original glory in the mid-2010s, the adidas Crazy 8 holds a special place in the hearts of basketball lovers and Kobe fans. Drawing inspiration from adidas's EQT and Feet You Wear (FYW) lines, the chunky signature model became synonymous with a young Kobe Bryant, who captured imaginations everywhere while wearing the number 8 jersey.
Though Kobe's relationship with the German sportswear giant may have soured in the early 2000s, the collaborations between the two left an indelible mark on the sport and basketball fashion. Now, the Crazy 8 is set to return triumphantly, rekindling memories and honoring the late legend.
The first modern retro release will feature the classic “Core Black” and “Cloud White” colorway, though this release is treated to faded panels across the upper to present a slightly different look from Bryant's original.
Having already hit shelves across Asia on August 1st, the Adidas Crazy 8 is poised to return Stateside on August 15; stay tuned for updates via our official Twitter account.
