Love him or hate him, Tyler Blevins — better known by his online alias Ninja — hold a huge influence on the younger generation. For many, his signing to adidas last year was a head-scratcher, but those with an eye for marketing knew just how influential Ninja could be for the Three Stripes outside of the sneaker culture we know and love. And for the next generation of sneakerheads who may not know just how important the Superstar is, his latest adidas link-up may well serve as an introductory into a lifetime of silhouette obsession.
Unlike fellow ambassador Jonah Hill, Ninja isn’t presenting us with anything new; a simple white leather base overlayed with blue-trimmed white leather overlays and a striking royal rear overlay is relatively tame. But elements like the circuit board print on the instep (similar to that seen on this duo of like-colored NMD v2s) and jelly outsoles make these different enough for even the most cynical sneakerheads to take notice. Elsewhere you’ll find NINJA branding on the quarter, an absence of tongue branding, and the gamer’s signature “Time In” and motif on the mismatched dubraes.
