Before those Nintendo 64 Air Max 97s broke the internet this past July, adidas had their own low-key console drop of the YUNG-1. Although it didn’t quite get the exposure that the Swoosh drop received, units moved well, and in my opinion, it’s not only a better-looking rendition but also one of higher quality. Now it’s back for those of you who missed out — of for those who want to double up — with adidas.com dropping pairs in a full-size run late yesterday.
Thanks to the YUNG-1’s 90s design ethos, this release feels very organic — the chunky, generic grey paired with pops of color is instantly associated to 90s gaming consoles — even the tongue and insole Trefoil logos are reminiscent of old school intro screen logo animation. Quality is killer, with smooth grey nubucks overlaying classic 90s mesh, and the perfect pairing of dark grey and black with pops of vibrant color on the sole unit really champion home the retro console creation.
As mentioned above, pairs just restocked on adidas.com in a full-size run for $120 — BUT some pairs from the OG drop (sizes, 10, 10.5 and 11) are marked down at HALF PRICE right here on END.
