Hate 'em or love 'em, the adidas VIRGINIA partnership by Pharrell Williams is pushing the boundaries like few high-profile footwear collaborations are in a post-Ye world.
On Aug. 16, the Louis Vuitton Creative Director visited Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida with Quavo, the former-Migos member for whom he recently produced the song "Trance (Walk It Down)." During the outing, Williams was photographed wearing an unreleased, never-before-seen pair of adidas shoes.
Details about the sneakers haven't been disclosed as of writing, but it's likely the white-and-blue style are the next VIRGINIA footwear offering from P and the Three Stripes. As with the Adistar Jellyfish and Starfish, it's expected that the unreleased pair draws inspiration from the adidas Archve—namely road running and trail running shoes from over the last 35 years..

The sneaker's white-blue color scheme and curved accents across the upper evoke images of Lionel Messi's Argentina-inspired Adistar and F50 collection for the 2026 World Cup™. Pharrell's footwear-of-choice, however, features a sock-like collar and textile base, suggesting the silhouette is rooted in the lightweight running shoes from the Adizero line.
Underfoot, cushioning (likely LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam) opts for a tall stack height in a similar fashion to the popular and high-performing Evo SL. The medial forefoot features a slight cutout like the adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra 2, a top-of-the-line trail running shoe that includes the ENERGYRODS stiffening agent wedged between responsive foam for enhanced propulsion. Furthermore, the outsole extends onto the top of the toe box, appearing much more aggressive than typical road racers. It's possible the design choice was inspired by a mix of retro trail shoes like the Adizero XT or Response series, as well as the Balenciaga Defender shoe from 2021.
In any case, the forthcoming sneaker further showcases Pharrell and adidas' ability to reinterpret performance-first design.

Stay tuned for firm adidas.com release details. It's possible the pair is unveiled in early 2027, during Paris Fashion Week®, as was the case with the VIRGINIA Jellyfish.
