After traveling all around Springfield for a delicious “Krusty Burger” ZX 10000,a stop-off at the Duff Brewery, and a nightcap at Flaming Moe’s, adidas has returned to Evergreen Terrace for its next four-fingered collab, with this Simpsons x adidas McCarten “Ned Flanders” nodding the towns most friendly neighbor — and what better way to honor International Left-Handers Day (today, August 13th) than unveiling a sneaker for the founder of The Leftorium?
There is probably no shoe in the adidas archive that’s better suited than the semi-formal McCarten, with its casual design screaming mid-40s male and versatility that could take you from the garden to Sunday Service without swapping shoes. Here, it’s dressed in Ned’s signature duds, with green uppers and pink liners a reference to Ned’s nifty diddily-iddliy sweater and shirt combo. Brown suede mimics the man’s heft mustache and mane, while a dark black outsole refers to the character’s actual on-screen footwear. The pair is then completed by metallic gold Trefoil and eyelet detail, and special Leftorium-inspired packaging.
Though it would have been fitting to release today for International Left-Handers Day, a drop will not take place until October 27th.
