A story of rebellion and creative exchange unfolds once again as Y-3 and Japan’s NEIGHBORHOOD officially launch their collaborative capsule collection, Y-3 NEIGHBORHOOD, first unveiled during the label’s Fall/Winter 2025 show in Paris.
Founded by Shinsuke Takizawa in 1994, NEIGHBORHOOD has long embodied the outlaw energy of motorcycle subcultures across Japan and America. That same defiant spirit resonates deeply with Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3, whose avant-garde approach to design has consistently challenged convention. Together, the two creative forces — united under adidas — explore the intersections of streetwear, motorcycling, and sport through an unapologetically bold collection.
To bring this vision to life, Y-3 and NEIGHBORHOOD enlisted collaborators across disciplines: Wales-based artist David Gwyther (Death Spray Custom), Tokyo’s custom bike workshop Cherryscompany, and Italian motorsport icon Dainese. Each played a distinct role in shaping the collection’s creative and technical direction, grounding it in the authentic language of motorcycle culture.
The capsule features graphic-heavy apparel and technical outerwear, headlined by custom artwork from Death Spray Custom — including scorpion, frog, and moth motifs across tees. The highlight footwear piece, the Y-3 NBHD Nizzastar Lo, fuses the shell-toe heritage of adidas Originals with Y-3’s minimalist craftsmanship. Completing the collection are premium leather racer pants and jackets crafted by Dainese, alongside racing-inspired details that capture the motion and raw power of the open road.
Shot in striking black and white by Takay, the campaign stars a custom-built motorcycle by Cherryscompany — an emblem of rebellion and craftsmanship central to the collaboration’s ethos.
The Y-3 NEIGHBORHOOD capsule collection launches October 25th, both on adidas and at ComplexCon, where Y-3 will host an exclusive installation featuring the custom bike, helmets, and full apparel range.
