With Nike and adidas going all-in on a different Green Day, Japan’s ASICS will be going green in the name of the annual Earth Day celebration. Perhaps the two aforementioned don’t feel the need to celebrate the day as their Move to Zero and Primegreen campaigns are walking the walk, ASICS doesn’t yet have the tools in place to consistently deliver sustainable sneaker.— but this GEL-Lyte III “Earth Day” is a fairly decent starting point.

The brand proposes a neutral color palette that minimizes the need for water, inks, and dyes, and therefore better for the environment, and as a result, the pair arrives in fairly muted, natural tones. Uppers of mostly cream arrive in both mesh and leather, while Tiger Strip overlays, forefoot cut-ins, and rear clips opt for light olive. Shaggy chocolate suede heel overlays add bold weight to the rear end, while tonal embroidery adds a subtle touch. Completing this environmentally-friendly design is a cream midsoles and light gum rubber outsole.

Take a look at the official images below, and look for these to hit ASICS US on April 23rd for $110 — and now restocked on July 14th at Finish Line.
