ASICS has recently shown that it too will be honing in on more sustainable footwear options in this ever-conscious market, with a special undyed “Earth Day” drop and an upcycled effort from Euro retailers SVD. Both of those hit the famed split-tongue silhouette, as does their next, this GEL-Lyte III “Patchwork”
Whilst sustainability is a new thing for the Tiger, they’re no stranger to patchwork finishes. A few years back, the brand showed a penchant for the finish a few years back across a handful of indigo-dyed drops. Here, it keeps up the saskiho themes, with a split-blocked colorway that is vastly different across its opposing sides. The lateral panels on the pair sport a solid grey suede finish, with a handful of tack-stitched details, including an apparent hand-stitched brand panel below the ankle. The flip side is a hot mess of fabrics, with denim-like blue suede overlaying a patchwork of white, red, and blue pieced beneath. Tiger Stripes are merely stitched on, and are barely noticeable given the wild tolling beneath. Completing the design are navy blue liners, grey midsoles, and two-tone rubber outsoles underfoot.
