The ASICS GEL-LYTE III “Rooibos” is Inspired Buy Traditional Tea Ceremonies
GEL-LYTE III fans have been treated to an action-packed year so far. In addition to teaming up with Ronnie Fieg for his 99th and 100th collaborations with ASICS, the silhouette has been busy churning out in-line colorways — including this past weekend’s nod to the Masters' golf tournament. Now the Shigeyuki Mitsui-designed classic is getting another seasonal makeover, drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese tea ceremonies.
Part of their "Ocha Zome" collection, the ASICS GEL-LYTE III "Rooibos" is crafted almost entirely from recycled textiles, with each panel dyed using leftover ingredients from matcha tea production. This imparts a naturally appealing color to much of the construction, where overlays and base layers showcase light and dark shades of brown, subtly evoking the appearance of unground tea leaves. Completed with distressed edges and resting on a cream sole, the ASICS GEL-LYTE III "Rooibos" is expected to hit select retailers and ASICS.com soon.
As we wait for more information on the pair’s release, enjoy the official images ahead, and as always, keep your eyes locked on our official Twitter account for updates.
