Though it's only relatively new to line, the ASICS GEL-NYC model has become a mainstay within the brand's extensive lineup, echoing the popularity of other ASICS favorites like the GEL-1130 and GT-2160.
Fresh off the success of the GEL-NYC 2055, ASICS is set to unveil yet another iteration of this thriving model—the GEL-NYC Utility—geared towards outdoor functionality without sacrificing its urban appeal.
Named aptly for its enhanced features, the GEL-NYC Utility is designed with rugged, practical elements. The quarter branding is upgraded to TPU material, enhancing durability, and is integrated into the lacing system to ensure a secure fit. Fabric strips replace traditional top eyelets, adding a tactile texture contrast, while additional practical touches include rope laces and a handy pull tab at the heel. The shoe's base layer is crafted from sturdy nylon, which is ideal for weather-resistant wear.
This new variant maintains its predecessors' unchanged, beloved sole design, ensuring continuity in comfort and performance.
ASICS has already rolled out three colorways of the GEL-NYC Utility in Europe, with more to follow. Each pair is slated for a US release during the Fall 2024 shopping season, with a price tag of $160—a modest increase reflective of its premium enhancements.
Expect an official update on the deign's debut in the coming weeks.
