Despite its popularity amongst youth, the ASICS GT-2160 debuted more than a decade ago. Over the last two years, it's exploded in relevance due to changes in consumer trends and a strong, healthy roster of budget-friendly styles. Its "Dark Mustard"-accented ensemble from last fall is back for the spring season, adding yet another tally to its laundry list of compelling makeovers.
Akin to other GT-2160 releases and popular ASICS retros, the relaunched offering features "Cream" and "Silver" accents across its technical build. Performance-informed construction harkens back to the early 2000s, while still delivering an aesthetic that visually and literally holds up today. The titular "Dark Mustard" hue takes on synthetic overlays along the tongue and around the forefoot; branding on the lateral heel follows suit. The visible GEL cushioning underfoot brings some of the upper's spring-friendly flair to the tooling, which includes some of the elements found in the Japanese brand's current roster of running models.
