The ASICS GT-2160 has gone from a budget-friendly option for runners who pronate to one of the most popular sneakers amongst savvy fashion enthusiasts. High-profile co-signs and avant-garde collaborations have helped the retro style find a second life, but it's stayed in the spotlight through its own merit.
Ahead of spring, ASICS has prepared a slew of different offerings – including the GEL-K1011 'Pure Silver' – for all preferences. Its GT-2160 has emerged in handfuls of new colorways as a result, delivering a mix of 'Metallic Silver'-heavy finishes and tonal ensembles. The latter group features an aquatic blue update. Breathable mesh sets the stage for synthetic patent leather across the upper. The GEL-assisted sole unit underfoot also indulges in the top-half's color scheme, creating a look that evokes images of COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT's GEL-Nunobiki from February 2024. Under the right lighting, the inline offering also resembles Unaffected's 'Bottle Green' GEL-Kayano 14 collaboration.
The Japanese brand hasn't disclosed a release date for its blue-covered GT-2160 as of yet, but that's expected to change soon. Pairs should be available via ASICS.com and other retailers for $120 by May.
