BAPE x ASICS GEL-1090 “Camo” Expecting June 26th Drop

After getting fitted out by retailers Above The Clouds, the ASICS GEL-1090 returns with one of the biggest names in streetwear from the past 20 years in BAPE for a special-edition release.

The camo-clad pair continues the long-standing partnership between the brands, the first since their link-up for Holiday 2015. While that pack was focused around two of ASICS’s more popular silhouettes, the new decade brings a focus on 2003’s 1090 — a cult classic amongst trainer heads the world over. Initially inspired by the sleek lines of a motorcycle, this shoe is meant to emphasize the notion of speed. These lines are blurred by BAPE’s signature camo that covers the entirety of the upper, before tonal olive suede covers the toe and heel. Extra stealth is added by-way-of anthracite outsoles and midfoot underlays, as well as jet black tongues, laces, and liners. Vibrant orange arrives at the midfoot Tiger stripes, silhouette-specific Tiger claws at the toe and heel, and medial BAPE Tiger graphics, while co-branding at the tongues and heels are finished in bright yellow. Completing the release is a set of co-branded insoles, and special camo boxing, too.
