Ronnie Fieg Revisits ASICS GEL-LYTE III "Salmon Toe" for Kith's 15th Anniversary

This is not a drill: Ronnie Fieg might've just confirmed that the ASICS GEL-LYTE III "Salmon Toe" from 2011 will return as part of Kith's 15th anniversary celebration.

The New York City-native recently shared a photo to his Instagram Broadcast Channel showcasing a "Fieg"-branded pair of a navy-and-pink GEL-LYTE III. To the uninformed, the picture could look like a casual, of-the-moment shot at whatever Fieg had on feet that day, but this isn't the case.

The retro ASICS model has seen some energy over the last year, sparked by its 35th anniversary festivities. A lot of attention had been paid to the brand's more technical running footwear over the last handful of years, but the split-toed GEL-LYTE III was the niche runner from the early-to-mid-2010s. Fieg was at the forefront of the movement back then, and his first Kith store is forever linked with the model in a beloved "Salmon Toe" colorway.

The predominantly two-tone pair launched in ultra-limited quantities, making it an instant grail for early fans of Fieg's work. Much of Fieg's modern footwear projects are done through the Kith label, but his earlier offerings as a standalone creative featured "By Ronnie Fieg" distinction.

Throughout the years, Fieg has revisited the original "Salmon Toe" concept through a variety of releases, namely for anniversaries or new store openings, but has stayed away from a faithful, one-to-one retro of the first GEL-LYTE III, keeping the pair sacred. The presumed 2026 retro offers some differences with the OG, but seems the most faithful "Salmon Toe" style yet.
