With its deep roots in Japanese heritage, Asics merges the world of anime with that of athletic footwear once more, again diving deep into the Naruto universe.
After making waves with the Gel-Lyte IIIs that paid tribute to the illustrious Copycat Shinob last year, the brand rekindles its connection with the series, bestowing the Gel-NYC silhouette with touches reminiscent of Naruto, the iconic shinobi protagonist.
Scheduled for a December debut, the Naruto Shippuden x Asics Gel-NYC collaboration vividly brings to life the pivotal Pain Arc from the series. This shoe is a tribute to Naruto's "Sage Mode," a form that allowed him to tap into phenomenal power. From design elements that resonate with fans, like the scroll-inspired lace lock and the proud Konoha emblem on the dubrae, to the vibrant Uzumaki clan logo gracing the tongue, every facet of the shoe echoes the character’s essence. Its color scheme further mirrors the hues of Naruto's empowered state.
Beyond the footwear, the packaging itself is an ode to the series. The shoes come in a bespoke box, hinting at the world within; accompanying apparel is also expected to release.
