Known to hit customizers and bespoke builders with heft copyright infringement lawsuits, it was refreshing to see Nike get served by USPS in 2021 for doing just that. Making a fairly dubious decision to rip off the Postal Service’s Priority Mail packaging on their Air Force 1 Experimental, Nike was forced to cut a check to USPS to avoid a lengthy court battle. Now, perhaps as an underhanded ‘fuck you’ to Nike, USPS has officially collaborated with BAPE on the BAPE Sta — a sneaker which itself rips off the Nike Air Force 1.
Brilliant.
The partnership is providing two colorways, both of which are anchored in graphic uppers printed with official USPS package designs. One pair is then overlayed with bold navy and red leathers, whilst the other looks to keep the graphics rolling. That second pair sports mismatched eyestay and heel overlays in red and blue, with alternate-color midfoot stars. Both then come completed by official USPS logos on the lateral heel, white and navy sole units, and chrome Ape dubraes.
Grab a first look at the collaboration below, and expect to see and learn more about the link-up over the coming weeks.
