Etro and Birkenstock Give the Boston a Western Makeover

Etro and Birkenstock are linking up for the first time, bringing the Italian fashion house’s decorative approach to two of Birkenstock’s best-known silhouettes.

Leading the collection is the Birkenstock Boston, which arrives in a selection of earthy suede finishes dressed with Western-inspired embroidery. Paisley and floral stitching runs across the upper, while a wide leather strap is finished with an ornate silver buckle and Etro’s Pegaso detailing.

Despite the added decoration, the collaboration keeps the Boston’s familiar foundation intact, including Birkenstock’s anatomical cork-latex footbed and signature outsole construction. Etro also extends its paisley treatment underneath the footwear, adding another subtle point of co-branding.

The wider collaboration also includes the Gizeh, carrying similar embroidery, hardware and Etro detailing across the sandal silhouette.

The Etro x Birkenstock collection is set to release on September 10 through Etro, Birkenstock and select retailers. Pricing has not yet been announced.
