It was Mike’s ol’ trusty color blocking circa 2015/16, but since the explosion caused by the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Shattered Backboard” and follow-up Royal, Pine Green, and Bred offerings, the “Color Toe” blocking has been rarely seen. We got a teaser look at a “Yellow Toe” pair back in 2019 that never eventuated, but since then, it vanished. A strange move considering you could literally interchange any color accent for an instant banger. Perhaps, for this reason, Jordan Brand is saving the blocking for a rainy day. We still want more, though, and this Air Jordan 1 High “Bordeaux Toe” might be a good start.
The below colorway was just one of many mock-ups of the blocking that we’ve made over the years, including Freshwater, Football Grey, and Mocha — all of which we’ll roll out on our Concepts Page over the coming weeks. This, though, remains our favorite. Wine red, black, and piercing whites go together like a Bordeaux and blue cheese combo — delicious.
Stay tuned for a bevy of more “Color Toe” colorways coming soon.
