Concept Lab // Air Jordan 3 “Batman”
Being big, big fans of Batman, the Dark Knight has often worked its way into our Concept Lab operations. From early designs like our “Joker” KAWS x Air Jordan 4 to Nightwing and Tomorrow Knight Air Jordan 5s, the iconic DC series has been ever-present in our psyche. And whilst it’s not out of the ordinary to see Batman-like designs hit retail (especially in the Air Max linage) we simply can not — and quite frankly will not – stay away from creating new Caped Crusader concept creps. Our next is simply titled the Air Jordan 3 “Batman” — this one inspired by arguably his most recognizable Batsuit hues.
Seen frequently throughout his 82 years of protecting Gotham City, the black, grey, and gold gear sprung back into vogue in 2016 with DC’s Rebirth series (pictured below). It’s considered one of the best by many Batman aficionados, despite its lack of presence in film and TV history — through Ben Affleck’s Batman did adopt something close to it. Alas, we love it, so we’ve decided to once again head back to the Batcave to create something inspired.
Here, we’ve dressed the Air Jordan 3 in dusty Cool Grey suede, with murdered-out elephant print, premium perforated leather collars and mid panels, and top-shelf tongues and leather laces. Liners are grey, for a change, while off-white midsoles and Nike Air branding in the back provide some pop. And it wouldn’t be a Batman-themed release without pops of golden yellow, seen here at the tongue Jumpman, rear “AIR” lettering, and visible Air supports.
