The late great Chuck Taylor was hired by Converse back in 1921 as a salesman, and was instrumental in spreading the Converse brand and the game of basketball in America. Now almost a century later the iconic sneaker is as prevalent as ever with recently announced collaborations with the likes of Carhartt, Rokit, and Fear of God, but for perhaps at a slower change of pace, the humble Converse Chuck 70 returns to its roots for this fully canvas-covered two-piece pack.
The down-to-earth duo shares a unique affinity for one another, both are completely adorned in canvas. From head to toe, the textured textile only gives way to the rubber outer sole which results in a folksy aesthetic. The Hi, with its tri-coloured upper, features washed brown and “Praire Sand” on the lateral that’s separated by a desaturated orange tongue and heel stripe that acts as a central divider. The medial side features a cinder-like brown, while a natural “Egret” canvas envelops the midsoles and toe box.
The Ox, like its counterpart, also arrives in split blocking r that’s made up of “Mellow Rose” and “Plein Air” that’s kept apart thanks to the “Egret” heel overlay and tongue that seamlessly bleeds into the toe box and midsoles.
Grab a detailed look at both the High and Ox here below, and look for the duo to arrive at SNS.com@ 3:00 am Eastern on May 15th for $100 a pop.
