Converse will be joining their parent brand Nike in celebrating Black History Month for 2020, and, like the Swoosh, they have utilized both mismatched makeups and 90s-inspired palates to honor the occasion. The brand will be issuing special-edition offerings of two hardwood icons, the Chuck Taylor and Pro Leather, for the month-long celebration.
The Chuck Taylor comes in a collection of colors and materials, utilizing a patchwork-like construction that alternates between shaggy mustard suedes, olive canvas, royal nylon, and black mesh, with a neutral mesh tongue completing the mix. The pair is capped off with classic off-white sole units, red laces, silver hardware, and multi-colored BHM embroidered logos. Dr. J’s Pro Leather arrives with no leather — except on the liners — again opting for shaggy suede and textile. This time, though, it utilizes tonal olives paired with sail sole units, vibrant purple laces, and chrome heel panels.
Look for both the Chuck Taylor and Pro Leather “BHM” to release on February 19th at Converse.com, with the retail price tags set at $75 USD and $95 USD, respectively.
