There might not be a lone person to credit for the balletcore trend, but what's certain is that it's been unshakeable over the last year. Sneaker brands have taken notice, reimagining some of its popular styles through Mary Jane and ballet flat lenses. The latest example arrives via Converse Japan, which introduced the Women's All Star Trekwave BL OX to the market on April 25.
Built atop the chunky Trekwave tooling that's been on sale for an extended moment, the Chuck 70-reminiscent look delivers one of the brand's more eyebrow-raising designs of recent memory. Close inspection of the silhouette—which debuted in "Black" and "Pale Rose" finishes—reveal what's effectively a Converse-ified version of a ballet flat: a non-canvas, low-profile upper is given a rubber toe cap and sat atop two layered sole units. As with footwear featured in Black Swan, the top-half includes reinforced lace loops that allow for a pretty ribbon lacing setup to run from vamp to lower leg. The detail not only secures the foot in place, but also provides a coquette aesthetic.
Campaign material for the ballet-inspired All Star Trekwave BL OX features Japanese dancer and model, Aoi Yamada, rocking the "Pale Rose" pair and a tutu.

No word about a global launch has been shared by either party involved as of yet, but your best bet might be keeping an eye on StockX to see if the Women's shoes hit the after-market.
