Converse and Vaquera Turn a Skate Shoe Into the VX-1 Heel
Converse and Vaquera are back with one of their most unexpected designs yet, introducing the new VX-1 Heel.
The silhouette starts with inspiration from the Converse CS Pro-1, a padded skate shoe pulled from the brand’s archive, then flips the formula with a slim kitten heel underneath. The result mixes skate construction up top with a more formal, fashion-led shape below.
The upper is built from perforated suede with a padded mesh tongue and inner heel, while wide laces run through molded eyerow covers. Co-branded details appear across the tongue and heel, with Star Chevron branding on the sides and a Super Grip gum rubber forefoot outsole completing the build.
The release continues Converse and Vaquera’s partnership following last year’s XXXHi Slouch Wedge and XHi Slouch Wedge, which reworked the Chuck Taylor All Star with exaggerated proportions and hidden wedge soles. This time, the duo moves away from the Chuck entirely and introduces a purpose-built model of its own.
Kim Petras fronts the campaign for the VX-1 Heel, photographed inside a miniature house that plays with scale and the shoe’s oversized personality.
The Converse x Vaquera VX-1 Heel releases October 27 for $250 via Nike SNKRS.
