Kenny Scharf Joins Salehe Bembury's Crocs Pollex Clog Artist Series
Los Angeles-born artist Kenny Scharf is the latest creative invited to reimagine the Crocs Pollex Clog as part of Salehe Bembury's ongoing Art Friends Thumbs Up Good Job series.
Having previously featured Nina Chanel Abney's work, the initiative has turned its attention to Scharf, who helped make the New York City art scene of the 1980s visible alongside Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. His take on the fashion-forward pair of Crocs sees a white bio-circular Croslite™ base animated with spray-painted-like details—namely a series of blue blob characters. The surreal-reminiscent backdrop is asymmetrical between left and right clogs, creating a unique finish to Bembury's original silhouette.
As with Abney's Pollex Clog from April, Scharf's contribution to the Art Friends Thumbs Up Good Job series is limited to just 1,000 units. The artist's signature is printed onto the pair's footbeds.
Enjoy detailed photos of the project ahead. The collaboration releases via the SaleheBembury.com website on Friday, Nov. 14, at 12 p.m. EST/9 a.m. PST.
