Salehe Bembury's Crocs Pollex Shoe — the "Juniper" — Debuts May 30

Salehe Bembury is pushing the boundaries of footwear innovation yet again, this time by bringing a new design to the Crocs Pollex division as part of his Spring/Summer 2024 collection.

Having risen from relative obscurity to become a major force in the footwear world, Bembury's collaborations with New Balance and Crocs have mainly stood out for their ingenuity and appeal.

April marked a significant milestone in this journey when Crocs announced Bembury as the Creative Director of their Pollex Pod collection. This move signified a fusion of Crocs' comfort-focused ethos with Bembury's distinct design language. The Pollex Clog and Pollex Slide have already garnered widespread acclaim, bringing new excitement to a brand often associated with practicality over style.

The latest glimpse into this ongoing partnership reveals a continuation of the fingerprint-inspired tooling that has become a hallmark of Bembury's work with Crocs. What sets the upcoming model apart is its more traditional shoe upper, which might suggest a new direction in Bembury's design approach.

The Crocs Juniper, after much anticipation fueled by a series of social media teasers, has been officially unveiled as Crocs' inaugural foray into the sneaker market. This launch marks a significant milestone for the brand, known for its iconic clogs, as it expands its footprint into new territories of footwear design.

It seamlessly blends Salehe's unique aesthetic with classic sneaker elements, resulting in an impressively crafted piece of footwear. At first glance, the sneaker captivates with its perforated toe boxes and a six-eyelet shoelace system, complemented by an interior mesh-based bootie. However, it's the distinctive features like the translucent rubber outsole and the trademark fingerprint traction pattern that imbue the sneaker with a unique identity, distinguishing it from conventional designs.
