Well, this comes as no surprise. Especially to those who have spent any time at Greenhills market in Manilla.
Filipino Custom agents just made a small dent into the nation’s fraudulent flea market earnings, seizing a bounty of over $750,000 worth of fake sneakers and goods since the beginning of 2018.
The counterfeit creps, steroids and scamming devices have all been intercepted at Ninoy Aquino International Airport since January. The Bureau’s flex on social media proudly show their snatch, including Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 1/97s, Hu NMDs, Yeezy Powerphases and Atmos x Nike Air Max 1s.
But in a strange move, the fakes will be auctioned and donated to the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Usually fakes are seized to protect brand image, but why not make a quick buck themselves to ease the pressure on the federal budget.
