Diadora has been heavily experimenting in 2019. New silhouettes like the wave-riding RAVE has shown that the heritage and running-focused brand can keep up with the mainstream players, but it’s their retrospective catalog that has always hooked in sneakerheads. Now the Italian-made brand looks to bring back a classic — an OG D-Boy sneaker from the late 80s — the aptly named Maverick for a retrospective release.
1987’s tennis shoe-come-fashion staple returns in a near one-for-one replication of the OG, which arrives in three accented options: Blue, Black and Green. Each features a clean white calfskin upper with color pops arriving on the profile and heel overlays in velvety nubucks. The latter comes piped with either red or black detail, and the pair comes complete with a classic white/grey sole unit and Italian insignia on the lateral ankle in ode to the country of origin.
Take a peep at the official shots of the trio below, which was officially unveiled by New York legends Jadakiss and Hip, who reminisce over the Maverick in the video below. Pairs will be returning this Saturday, October 19th at stores like Packer and directly from Diadora.com
