Comforting Carmelo.
Carmelo Anthony says that he’s fine coming off of the bench for his new squad this year.
Still, that’s gotta hurt.
But there comes a time in (almost) everybody’s career where you get shafted to the pine for someone younger, faster and more talented than you.
So the Rockets organization have taken upon themselves to make the former scoring champ feel at ease, making a bizarre effort to calm Carmelo.
Well, that’s a unique approach, Rockets.

This is just strange — and very condescending.
Melo may not deserve the start (yet), but this attempt might actually make the situation worse.
It’s like the NBA equivalent of a participation trophy. All Melo needs now is a McDonald’s Happy Meal voucher.
I’m gonna take a ping and say that I doubt this makes Melo feel any better.

Clearly the 10-time All-Star has battled with the idea of not starting. But, winning fixes everything, right? And with the Rockets set to be the number two seed in the west this year, Melo should have nothing to complain about.
