Following the release of the debut “White on White” earlier this followed by a trio of color-striped releases, the Air Jordan 1 Centre Court has popped up in perforated leather and a colorway that harkens back to its tennis-inspired roots.
The new-to-line silhouette has been a little lackluster in terms of color and flair, but that’s nothing that a little heritage inspiration can’t fix — even if it is borrowed from their German rivals. Yes, our first thoughts we’re also ‘these are very Stan Smith’, which is simply a testament to how impactful the adidas sneaker is in the tennis shoe category. They own it — so much so that not even Mike’s powerhouse Jordan Brand can’t make it their own. But with perforated uppers and green heel caps, it’s hard not to make the correlation. The pair does differ, though, with the inclusion of green outsoles, tongue liners, and upper eyestays, full perforation of the upper, and suede tongues. The silhouette’s signature Wings overlays at the rear arrive in its expected quilted finish, and the pair is capped off with white branding in the rear akin to the famed Trefoil, and an aged-look sail sole unit underfoot.
