Air Jordan 1 High OG "Self-Expression" Releases July 12

In a sneaker world that's continually evolving, with new silhouettes and styles vying for the spotlight, the Air Jordan 1 continues to stand tall. Despite the market's shift towards relics from the Nike Running archive, the Swoosh conglomerate remains committed to His Airness' first signature model—especially in the midst of its 40th anniversary. One newly-surfaced style champions self-expression.

At first glance, the pair falls in line with mostly-tonal ensembles that've previously graced the original Air Jordan. High-quality leather takes on a "Black" finish from tip of the toe to upper spine. The tried-and-proven midsole favors a contrasting "Muslin" tone that breaks up the pitch-dark outfit, but doesn't detract too much from the stealthy look. Panels across the upper, however, reveal more than meets the eye with their faintly multi-colored borders.

As with other wear and tear-away offerings from the Nike, Inc. empire, the Jordan 1 "Self-Expression" features a hidden layer underneath the surface. Vibrant shades from the rainbow cover base layers, animating the deceptively understated makeover.

Official product shots of the pair have yet to surface, but Instagram user @sharkicks1 has provided an early-look at the "Self-Expression" retro. Pairs are expected to hit Nike.com/Jordan and retailers like JD Sports on Saturday, July 12.
