Nike, Inc. is prepping for the changing of the Chinese Zodiacal Calendar. Multiple pairs have appeared as part of the company's "Year of the Horse" Collection, but it seems that the brand is also exploring other ways to celebrate the occasion.
Recently, an Air Jordan 1 Low appeared in a "Black/Dragon Red" color scheme. The contrasting look sees the bolder hue animate panels around the forefoot, allowing the stealthier tone to take over construction elsewhere. A medley of different materials comes together throughout the upper, reworking the profile swooshes in the process. A yellow trim is visible across key panels, adding an "unfinished" element to the sneaker.
The low-top Air Jordan 1's most defining detail is the image of Maneki-neko—or Lucky Cat—embroidered onto both tongues. Despite its Japanese origins, the symbol has been widely-associated with Chinese establishments across the globe. The beckoning cat represents good fortune and wealth. A small golden bell joins the mix atop the laces.
Enjoy official photos of the Lucky Cat-inspired AJ1 Low ahead. Pairs should launch via Nike.com/Jordan by early February 2026.
