The Air Jordan 1 Mid Gets Made Over in a Mix of Materials and Muted Hues

The Air Jordan 1 Mid has always served as a testing ground for new things, be it use of new hues, color blocking or materials — and quite often all three aspects at once, like these two new options arriving for late Summer-Fall.

Let’s break the duo down aspect-by-aspect; Color use arrives on the muted end of the spectrum, with one option pairing cool greys with warm tans, whilst the other opts for a mix of bone, light grey, and two muted blues — one almost grey in color. Material-wise you’ll find everything from smooth and textured leathers, suede, nylon and a thick waffle-like woven textile. The latter is found at the collar, with most of the pairs’ panels receiving their own unique fabrications. Color and material blocking is by far the most unique aspect of the duo, with the aforementioned collars in waffle joined by suede overlays in the rea, at the forefoot eyelets and over the toe, and smooth leather mid panels and toe caps in bone and grey respectively. Textured leather is the final piece to this jigsaw construction, fitting in at the medial eyelets and Swoosh overlays. elsewhere you’ll find standardized nylon tongues and rubber sole units blocked in matching muted palettes.
