The Texas Longhorns has been producing top-tier hoopers for decades. The southern basketball factory has given the league young guns in the making like Jarret Allen and Myles Turner, as well as some well-established veterans like PJ Tucker, LaMarcus Aldridge, Tristian Thomspon, and Kevin Durant. And, although it often celebrated for its basketball prowess, the college (and it’s colors) rarely make its way into the footwear conversation. Of course, we’ve seen a few Nike KD Longhorns colorways, as well a handful of PEs from PJ Tucker, but it’s aesthetic has never really played a prevalent part in the broad scope. So when we do get a Longhorns-like release, hardcore Texan fans jump on it quickly — and we’ve got a feeling that these special-edition “Longhorns” Air Jordan 1 Mid won’t last too long on the shelf.
The mid-cut pair comes constructed in beautifully tumbled leathers, heavy-duty nylons and is capped off with supple suede swooshes. The palate stays true to the Horns’, pairing crips whites with semi-burnt oranges, along with complimentary Pure Platinum grey at the forefoot overlays, and sail in the rear. The collar Wings logo is highlighted with black outlining, and the pair comes complete with a white midsole/grey outsole combo.
Although the Longhorns won’t be featuring in March Madness proceedings this year, we are expected these pairs to release in and around the tournament.
