With the Air Jordan 4 "Rare Air" officially slated for a July 2025 release, we’re now getting a look at an unreleased sample that presents a slightly different take on the upcoming colorway, credits to Hypebeast via Instagram. This version sticks to a all-white leather upper and incorporates subtle aged accents and bold color blocking on the midsole — a nod to the original "Rare Air" aesthetic introduced decades ago.
Notably, the pair features a removable Velcro tongue patch, a design callout that hasn’t been widely used on the Jordan 4 since its “Rare Air” branding debuted in the mid-2000s. Instead of the Jumpman logo or OG Flight script, the sample offers a customizable approach, echoing a period when Jordan Brand experimented with modular branding.
The midsole brings back the fan-favorite mix of black, red, and blue — reminiscent of the original “Rare Air” color palette — while the heel tab swaps out the usual Jumpman for classic “Nike Air” branding, aligning the pair more closely with heritage styling.
Though this exact version isn’t expected to release, it gives insight into how Jordan Brand continues to revisit and evolve past ideas. For now, fans can expect the official “Rare Air” Air Jordan 4 to hit retailers in July.
Stay tuned to our official twitter for updates — and don’t be surprised if more samples surface before launch.
