2013’s Air Jordan 5 “Bel-Air” homage to Will Smith’s Fresh Prince is one of the most natural cross-overs in Jordan Brand’s storied collection. After all, Will was seen rocking the 1990 signature sneaker in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s very first episode. That was then followed by a slew of on-screen Jordan wears over the cult classic’s six-year run, forging an even stronger bond between the two pop culture icons. With both the 2013 and Alternate 2020 releases well-seen, today, English Sole gives us a very first look at a pair that was almost released at retail; the 2013 look-see sample dressed in striking blue suede.
Boasting a striking cobalt blue suede upper and a bevy of bright neon accents, it’s easy to see how the pair draws inspiration from the sitcom’s opening titles. With fully-flecked midsoles, hot pink and teal liners, and vibrant neon at the tongue, heel, and toe, the pair pulls off the ultra-90s aesthetic — and then some. It’s finished with reflective tongues (not seen on the retail version) and black eyestays, and hardware around the midfoot.
See these beauties in detail for yourself below, and with these remaining a rarity, this will likely be the closest most of us get to a pair; If you love the aesthetic, however, you can scoop up pairs of the original 2013 and alternate 2020 release right here on StockX and GOAT.
