Earlier today, we compiled a graphic for the ‘gram of the 90+ Air Jordan Retros that released in 2020 and there was one glaringly obvious flaw — muted hues are a rarity. This year, like the many before it, we saw an abundance of white and black-leather based options with the occasional colored suede, too. Granted, we did get a few grey takes, as well as some softer palettes from Union and OFF-WHITE, but on the whole, it was one big ‘ol bowl of vibrant color. We want to change that, so we’ve taken matters into our own hands, whipping up a brand new concept in the Lab — this Air Jordan 5 “Ash Blue”
For this concept sneaker, we’ve started out with a dusty blue suede upper, tonal eyelets, midsoles, liners, and laces, and paired them with classic ice-blue netting, outsoles, and reflect silver tongues. To complete the design, we’ve opted for a muted Stone Blue across the brand accents, forefoot teeth, and insoles. A simple-yet-stunning combination from toe to tail that just goes to show a retro hoops shoe can something other than white leather.
