Jordan Brand looks to honor their milestone anniversaries yearly with special and considered releases. OG retros of the respective sneaker are a given, like next year’s Air Jordan 6 “Carmine” for its 30th birthday, but there’s often a special-edition release, too. Last weekend’s 25th Anniversary “Jubilee” Air Jordan 11honored the silhouette in a traditional sense, issuing the pair with a sample-inspired design and decking it out with silver accents — the conventional material gift for a 25th anniversary. With this theme in mind, we’ve created our very own 30th Anniversary Air Jordan 6 — a special-edition sneaker we’d love to use to celebrate Mike’s sixth signature sneaker.
Of course, we don’t know exactly what special commemorative release will arrive for the AJ6 in 2021. Still, if we had our way, it would look something like this, incorporating both traditional and modern 25th-anniversary gifts of Pearl and Diamond. We’ve imagined a mimicked pearl finish at the outsole pods, lace locks, rear clips, and a subtle pearl-like glistening sprayed across the University Blue upper. The latter is wrapped in traditional white leather overlays, while tongues, heel pulls, and sole units arrive in a Tarheels-friendly navy blue. Embroidered branding at the tongue shroud and heel come in uni blue, and an oversized faux-diamond Jumpman hangtag completes the pair.
