Next up for our Supervillian Series of Sneaker Concepts:
Marvel’s Spider-Man is one of the most beloved Superheros of all-time, thanks to his boyish, rebellious personality. And being one of the first teen superheroes who wasn’t a side-kick, he was instantly relatable to millions of avid comic readers around the globe. But, like every Superhero comic, there is a dark side. His name is Venom.
The character is a sentient alien Symbiote with an amorphous, liquid-like form, who survives by bonding with a host, usually human. This dual-life form receives enhanced powers and usually refers to itself as “Venom”. His first human host was, of course, Peter Parker, but he has hosted himself in a slew of humans over the years, earning himself top spots on every single Top Villians list.
From the sneaker interpretation perspective, it’s a relatively simple concept — the biggest challenge is selecting the right silhouette. For Venom, we chose the Air Jordan 6 for many reasons. For one, it looks killer in tonal colors. But mainly for these two reasons: 1. The aggressive overlays provide a sense of toughness, as well as apply a traditional supersuit aesthetic (Even Batman wore the Jordan 6 in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns), and 2, the tongues are ultra-long, the character himself. The result? See for yourself:
